OUR MEMBER SPOTLIGHT THIS WEEK IS SARAH TAPIA.
CHECK OUT BELOW TO KNOW ABOUT MORE SARAH!
Q: What brought you to CrossFit Paladin in the first place?
A: I had hit a wall trying to get back in shape and thought I’d give CrossFit a try. Paladin just happened to be a few blocks from where I lived. Then they went and moved after I was hooked. I feel like I was tricked somehow…
Q: What was your first impression? How has it changed?
A: Aside from “these people are crazy,” I could tell Melissa and all the coaches genuinely cared about how I was progressing and wanted to see me succeed. Neither of those thoughts have changed, although I guess now, I’ve joined in on the madness too.
Q: What was one of your first “bright spots”? (BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT YOU WERE PROUD OF)
A: Getting my first snatch. I had never touched a barbell before joining Paladin, so I feel like I really turned a corner once I was able to do that. Now throwing weights around and over my head is just another Tuesday (see previous question).
Q: What do you enjoy most about CrossFit Paladin?
A: The Paladin family. They were my support when I needed it the most.
Q: Favorite CrossFit Movement:
A: Squat Clean
Q: Least favorite CrossFit movement:
A: Burpees. Why are birthday burpees a thing? Why am I being punished for living?
Q: What is going to be your next bright spot? (NEXT BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT YOU’RE WORKING TOWARD)?
A: I’ve been working with Jennie (who has the patience of a saint) on improving my running. I’m hoping to shave three minutes off my mile time.
Q: What is your favorite meal after a hard workout?
A: Sushi hits differently after a workout.
Q: Tell us about your family:
A: I live with entirely too many books.
Q: What kind of job do you have?
A: Teaching assistant for the History Department at Tech
Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: I play saxophone, ukulele, and am currently learning guitar. I’m team PlayStation because I’m classy, but I also dabble in Switch. And I guess I can cook well enough to not kill somebody.
Q: Is there anything else you would like for us to know about you?
A: One time I ran off to live in the woods for five years, and will probably do so again in the near future.
SARAH IS A GREAT EXAMPLE OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE PART CF PALADIN. HER HARD WORK AND DEDICATION HAS LED HER TO EXCEL NOT ONLY ON CROSSFIT, BUT IN LIFE AS WELL. GRATEFUL TO HAVE HER AS PART OF THE FAMILY!
