This week’s member spotlight is on Erica Clark, here is a little info about her:
Q: What brought you to CrossFit Paladin in the first place?
A: My husband, Sean, joined Paladin first and then talked me into trying it too.
Q: What was your first impression? How has it changed?
A: I’ll admit I was intimidated at first by not being familiar with the movements and format of CrossFit, but I’m so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried something new. I’ve learned that CrossFit is for anyone and everyone, any age, and any fitness level.
Q: What was one of your your first “bright spots” (big accomplishment you were proud of)
A: Getting my first pull-up!
Q: What do you enjoy most about CrossFit Paladin?
A: First of all, I love that Sean and I can workout every day together, and that our children are watching and learning the importance of taking care of our bodies. Secondly, the people! From the coaches to fellow members, we are all there with a common purpose to be healthy and active, and having that encouraging community makes you want to push yourself and keep showing up day after day.
Q: Favorite CrossFit Movement:
A: Handstand push-ups and hang cleans!
Q: Least favorite CrossFit movement:
A: Wall balls!
Q: What is going to be your next bright spot (next big accomplishment you’re working toward)?
A: Becoming proficient at double-unders!
Q: What is your favorite meal after a hard workout?
A: Driven Chocolate Peanut Butter Post-WOD immediately after my workout, then my favorite “breakfast for lunch” meal a couple hours later.
Q: Tell us about your family:
A: My husband Sean and I have been married for almost 15 years. We have three kids, Cohen (age 11), Crew (age 9), and Marlo (age 8).
Q: What kind of job do you have?
A: I’m a stay-at-home mom and homeschool teacher.
Q: What are some of your hobbies?
A: I enjoy cooking, reading, decorating, and spending time with my family!
Q: Is there anything else you would like for us to know about you?
A: I didn’t really have an interest in sports or being athletic growing up, but I have realized since starting CrossFit, that it wasn’t too late for me, as a mom of three, to find a “sport” that I genuinely love to do. Seeing that I’m capable of being athletic and able to achieve fitness goals that I never imagined I could do, is something that I’m very proud of.
Erica, and the entire Clark family, are great examples in our community. They work hard but have fun. Their kiddos can often be seen mimicking the workout movement from the spectator area (a good reminder that our children are watching and learning from us), and their middle child, Crew, loves to attend CrossFit Kid’s Classes- and he is so fun to work with 🙂
